How can I get my parents to understand that video games aren't bad?
I asked my parents if I could buy the online pass on uncharted 3 to play multiplayer, but they said no, even though they let me buy the game and I play single player all the time They said its because they don't want me " shooting people dead" even though I told them online isn't any worse than single player, youre just playing against other players. What makes it even dumber is they let me play Halo online, which is also " shooting people dead" . Now they're trying to find some " non violent games" for me, even though I told them almost every game has violence, except the little kid games like Mario. So how can I get them to understand that Uncharted 3 online is the same as Halo online, and it's probably less violent than the single player because it's just other players your shooting?And if it helps." , I'm 14, and Uncharted is rated T, halo is rated M.And it's ok, I'm not one of those 5 year old who act a like retard the whole time on online. Im actually mature. And I do good in school, mostly A's and I. Honors classes, so it's not like it's going to ruin my life
How to persuade my parents, that video games are not childish?
I'm 13 years old and i really want a xbox. I've even saved a big part of price, but my dad won't let me buy it. I have already had psp before. But now my dad don't want even hear about xbox. It's because he thinks that games are very childish, that same toy car games that i played 6 years old i am playing now. He also said it doesn't require any skill it is just button mashing I did a research about xbox and it's games and i already showed a gameplay of project gotham racing but it just annoys him Yes, he IS an old man, but he is businessman and he have " big hopes" in me, he says that i need to get better in each thing, but he just can't understand that i am a teenager and i just want to have fun. I have quite good grades like b or a everytime. I WILL BUY WHOLE XBOX MY SELF FROM MY HARD SAVED MONEY, but i need theiracception. Can someone please help?Thanks for suggestions, but now he says, that if ill have xbox, i will play it non stop, and i will reach nothing at life. He just can't understand it's just like hobby, besides, my parents are not caring type. They don't give me any restrictions, but whine everyday that i'm playing too much computer. They can buy me mature game and such. Great, now they are telling me that i am doing nothing all day. They are totally wrong, i'm going to basketball, to church, i'm learning break dance, but they say i need to do something " intellectual" . They say that they will buy me an xbox only if i'll finish all of my semester subjects on A , please tell me what to do, i really want an xbox
Are you of the opinion that video games can never be art?
This was implied by Roger Ebert a well known movie critic if you were wondering. Obviously Solitaire isn't art, but games have progressed so much since then. Don't get me wrong I used to think like this, I used to think that games were fun at best, but games like Alan Wake showed me a new world in which video games could equal, or possibly even surpass, movies. Any thoughts? Opinions?
Is it true that video games are as addictive as crack-cocaine?
I've heard that someone did a survey or something and has concluded that video games of any kind can be as addictive as crack if the player likes it very much. At first I thought this was BS, but I've heard this from many different cites people, online, TV and I am starting to consider otherwise. Does anyone know for sure weather or not video games are really as addictive as crack cocaine?

I played it on xbox about four or five years ago..it was on the original xbox, not the 360. There were these creatures, and you played one, and you went to these different " villages" and you could talk to people and even steal stuff. There was also magic in it. I can not remember the name of it. I know this is sort of broad, but if you have any ideas that would be great.Also, I am not sure if it was just for xbox, but that was all I ever played it on.Thanks It was not Fable, I have played that before. I know this is the worst description ever, I know it came out before that. It was sort of a " gloomy game" ..

There was a futuristic first person shooter video game for either the PS3 or 360 I believe in the last few years. It wasn't Mass Effect. I've looked at many games that have come out and I can't find it. IGN did a review of it on Youtube.No, it's none of those, unfortunately. The game came out sometime in the last few years, it's not Deus Ex Human Revolution. That game came out only a few months ago.

it came out for ps3 about a year ago . you travel through time to the futuer and the past and fight in different wars. you can bring weapons from the futer to like the civil war and stuff

Ah that one knight in the shining kevlar armed with a riot shield and a stinger missle, yeah we all know someone like that on the internet, i'm talking support characters, whether th'is a healer, a tank or someone built to help the group and no one thanks him, his kills may be in the 1 5 but his assists are in the 2 digits. You probably wouldn't even be in the leaderboard without this guy. May it be in BF3, league of legends or any other games, no one ever thanks him. Well new flash i'm one of them and i'm tierd to be insulted and pushed around to be a team player I want the respect i deserve and a proof that i can be a threat too, when will there be games where the support characters are gonna be rightly judged because modernly i only see leaderboards graded on kill streaks and that pisses me right the fuck off, needless to say. The only game that has been kind enough to do that is team fortress 2 where points are given to reach a small milestone on any stats, healing, assists, kills, teleports and all that stuff. But kindly enough there is too much dumbasses on servers and the game does not provide enough action. It does not need to be a FPS, I just want those 4 details to be fulfilled without creating more and i consider a game potentialy perfect is that too much to ask?
